Today was another expensive Freelander day. £170 for car tax, and another £188 for two new tyres. Ouch! An accountant would tell me that these are pre-payments that I can capitalize over the next twelve months - but I still feel stung.
Buying car tax has become very efficient. "Cashier number 1 please" just needed to barcode scan my document and the tax disk he issued me, then prompted me to enter my Switch card and PIN. I was so amazed that after all that he then had to hand-write all my details on the disk. I joked with him about that and he glumly replied: "Soon you won't need me to, all this will be done by a machine outside."
