Sarah Parr and Andy Stagles' Wedding Day, 22nd December 2005Father and Daughter DayPhoto Update

On the way home from work me and five other cars were hit by a breakdown lorry coming down the hill whose brakes had stopped working.

We were parked in two lanes of traffic waiting at the lights. Realising that he was unable to stop, the driver was able to aim for the gap in between the cars, swiping and shunting as he went. Like an iceberg, it crashed along the passenger side of the Freelander and stayed there.

Fortunately, nobody was hurt, just lots of twisted metal.

The second picture shows my car and the truck stuck together as they could not be separated at the scene. The other cars had been moved out of the way to allow the waiting traffic to flow. After the accident, mine and several other cars were rendered 'undrivable' by police. The police were very helpful and big thanks to Uncle Mike who stopped to make sure I was alright and Dave who drove me home.

We now await news of the Freelander... I'll keep you updated.

Good grief dsp, that looks a scary crash! Undoubtedly expensive too. Hope, as it was a"glancing" blow, you didn't get any whiplash or similar. You have my sympathies. I can only offer the similar "luck" I had for both rear-end shunts I've had in the last three years, that no-one else was with me in the car at the time. Wouldn't want to terrify the wife or kids...

Wow, sorry to here about the car. Ironic that a breakdown lorry had faulty brakes. Guess his insurance will jump next time.
